🐾🩵🐾 HAPPY TAILS - HANK & KINSEY 🐾🩷🐾 Hank & Kinsey are the siblings to recently adopted Rori. A litter of six that were rescued last summer along with their mom, they came to us when they were just two days old and were with us for 8 months. Hank and Kinsey are a sweet, playful, and loving pair of kitties. They have landed in a wonderful home with a new mom who spoils them in the best ways possible. We are so happy that this sweet duo has finally found their forever home together and we look forward to many updates! Most of our kitties we save are from euthanasia at shelters both locally and surrounding areas, as well as found orphaned, sick or abandoned right here in our own community. 🐾🛟 SURVIVAL STORIES 🛟 🐾 Someone we’ve helped before in Central Valley, alerted us about some kittens in need of rescue at a senior center. Unfortunately two of the kittens had already been taken, but there were three more that needed out of there. We agreed to help, provided they would also trap the mom cat so she could also get the help she needed too. HUMMUS, FALAFEL, and GARBANZO are now in our care. They were covered in fleas and full of worms but are now healthy and strong and doing wonderfully. And we’re happy to report that their feral mom cat was returned back to her community after recovering from her spay and she has a dedicated caretaker now. During this rescue operation, we were also made aware of another litter of kittens that needed help. A friendly cat had entered one of the senior’s units and had kittens in her closet. This senior was not equipped to manage this so we agreed to help them all too. Sweet mama PHOEBE and her babies LONDON, SYDNEY, PARIS, and BERLIN are all doing so well and happy and together in one of our foster homes. Phoebe has just about totally weaned her kittens and everyone will be available for adoption near the end of this month. Applications to pre-adopt will be accepted. As much as we wish we could always say yes to everyone asking for help, the truth is intaking new animals, especially kittens and puppies, requires the space to properly quarantine them and a dedicated foster to give them all the care that is required. Right now we are very full and it’s not always so easy to set up quarantine areas when you are already fostering. Luckily we were able to make it work for these two sets of kittens but we are totally at capacity now. If you’re cat savvy and have experience with kittens, please think about fostering with us. As part of the official events commemorating National Police Week in the nation's capital, the National Police Dog Foundation is hosting the National Police K-9 Memorial Service today. The wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and recognize 26 police dogs who gave their lives in the line of duty in 2023. Below is a photo of Duke, a K9 with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, killed in the line of duty February 2023. We thank all our fallen K-9 heroes for their service. RIP 💔

🐾🛟 SURVIVAL STORIES 🛟 🐾 These two all-white darling babies were found outside in an apartment complex in the Central Valley, after their mom cat was reportedly stolen from them. Left to fend for themselves even though they were much too tiny to survive on their own, they were also being tossed around by some of the children there which put their lives in further danger. Luckily someone stepped in and asked for rescue and they made their way to AARF. As a side note, we are big believers in helping the momcats too whenever possible, so the rescuer of the kittens continues the search for their mother in hopes she can be found and given the support she needs too. The kittens were pretty sick with URIs and diarrhea, but we took immediate action to get them healthy and strong and they are doing so well. Both girls are extremely sweet and affectionate and even make little singing sounds, which is adorable. Because of their resilience in spite of how life began, we have named them CASSANDRA and CLARA, which are two song names off Taylor Swift’s new TTPD albums. If you are a Swifty at all, you will understand the massive significance - and as they say, “IYKYK”. Cassandra and Clara need more time in foster care before they are ready for adoption as they are still growing to be big enough to be spayed. In the meantime, if you would like to apply for them, we can accept applications but we won’t be starting the meet and greets for a few weeks still until they have received more vaccines. 🐾🛟 SURVIVAL STORIES 🛟 🐾 At just about two-weeks old, these three brothers were found in a car engine and brought to the shelter. Kittens that young need to be fed around the clock so they needed rescue immediately. We pulled them into our care where they have received all the critical support to grow and thrive. We always say animal rescue takes a village, and that includes working with our local shelters to help the animals right here from our community. We’d like to introduce you to the Three Amigos ~ STEVEMARTIN, CHEVYCHASE, and MARTINSHORT. Each one of them is adorable, sweet and playful and all around wonderful boys. They have been neutered and they are ready to start the search for their forever homes. We are accepting applications for them now. 🐾🛟 SURVIVAL STORIES 🛟 🐾 One of our rescue friends reached out to us to ask if we could TNR at a local temple run by family here in South County. One of our dedicated rescuers Karen Fortino, volunteered to tackle this project and quickly was able to trap adults and some kittens and took them to the shelter for their surgeries. The shelter does not have the time to assess the socialization level of kittens so because some showed some fearful behavior in their traps, they were fixed, ear tipped and returned back to our trapper to release them. During release, she started to realize maybe these fluffy kittens weren’t as big as they first looked when trapped and the weight on their shelter paperwork confirmed that they were younger than first thought, so she instantly regretted releasing them and asked for guidance. A plan was made to re-trap them so we could pull them into rescue, assess them and work on their socialization, to help them be adoptable and not have to live the feral life. There was also a fourth kitten that had not been caught yet so she made it a priority to catch them all. We are happy to report that all four of them were caught quickly and placed in foster homes to learn how to appreciate human touch and they did so well and are now so very sweet! They know how great it is to be loved on and fed great food and play with other kitties and all the available fun toys! We are so thrilled with their fast progress and all the purrs and cuddles our socializers earned! We love giving animals a chance to show us who they really are and can be, and healing their hearts so they can have a fresh start! (continued in comments)
